Project Summary
A 20 million dollar, 1,900 seat “state of the art” division three collegiate multi-purpose hockey arena at Bowdoin College in Brunswick Maine. The Watson Arena is the first collegiate hockey arena of its kind to become LEED certified. The construction includes a custom steel superstructure, an insulated metal sandwich panel roof system, an insulated metal stud and masonry exterior wall system and reinforced concrete foundation and bleachers. The building houses a men’s and women’s home team suite, full service training facilities, coach’s offices,coaches changing rooms, a home team stick and skate shop, a public skate shop, 4 visiting team rooms, men’s and women’s officials rooms, a grand lobby with balcony overlook, public restrooms, a ticket room, food service area, and a raised press area. The Watson Arena has a total capacity of 4,500 people for multi-purpose events and will include the most advanced refrigeration system available for year round ice capability.
