Sunny Meadow Residence
Location: Barnard VT Project Architect: Bear Mountain Design Construction Date: Completed in 2005 Construction Cost: 0.5 Million Dollars Project Highlights: This residence was designed to be extremely energy efficient while simultaneously fitting into the local context of vernacular country capes, cottages and farm houses. The house was oriented toward the sun to take advantage of the south east slope of the grade. The house was also oriented to take into account the natural treed ridge which deflects the prevailing winter winds away from the house. The large full front porch was used to block out high summer sun which could over heat the house while still allowing the winter sun shine to penetrate into the main living spaces. The interior design is compact and well insulated for easy of heating.
