About the Principal

Harold W. Mayhew RA, AIA is a registered architect with more than 25 years of experience. Harold founded BMD in 1994 and he continues on as the principal today. It is because of his leadership that BMD has become Northern New England’s architectural leader in hockey arena and sustainable building design. Prior to founding BMD Harold practiced architecture in some of the most prestigious firms in New England. Prior to that he was at or near the top of his class at three different Universities and Colleges. He studied under one of the leading architects of the 20th century “Chang”, and apprenticed under two top New England Architect’s; Phillip Handler and D. F. McKnight. Although arenas have become a specialty of Harold’s he has considerable experience and success with many building types including office buildings, residential buildings, religious buildings and educational buildings. He also has an excellent track record at keeping projects moving forward within any reasonable budget and time constraints.
